Here at Rockin' Remnants we have a tradition of kicking off summertime with some of the classic tunes devoted to the sand, the shore, the sun, lazy days, cool evenings and summer romance. Many of these tunes unlock memories and feelings that instantly transport us back in time. Listen for multiple versions of George & Ira Gershwin’s Summertime from the musical Porgy & Bess.

Any way you slice it, summer’s here and the time is right for…Rockin’ Remnants!

Rock 'n' Roll Trivia: Name That Song

Clue 1. The introduction to this Top 5 single from 1965 is the composer’s favorite piece of music he’s ever written. Its purpose was to fill the need for an intro that would “be a total departure from how the song sounds and yet would somehow lead into the melody.”

Clue 2. This Brian Wilson composition appears on BMI’s list of the 100 greatest songs of the 20th Century, while Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it at #71 in the Top 500 songs of all time.

Clue 3. The Beach Boys took it to #3 in 1965. David Lee Roth did the same thing 20 years later. Can you name the song that compared girls from all over America with the ones in Brian’s home state?
