The Summer of 1970 was hot, but the music blasting out of AM radios and jukeboxes was even hotter! Three Dog Night topped the chart for the first time, the Brits offered up Vanity Fare and White Plains, and The Carpenters were on their way to the top of the BB Hot 100 with one of the biggest hits of the summer.
Congratulations to all our winners from Saturday! One of the ticket giveaways was for a band fronted by two people who used to be in THIS band (see photo) -- can you name them?

Photo - Who Are They?
The photo at the top of this blog entry is of the Grateful Dead (who called themselves the Warlocks in 1965 but changed their name to the Grateful Dead later that year after they found out that another band called the Warlocks had just signed a recording contract).
Two members of the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, founded the band Furthur in 2009. Furthur will be performing in Cooperstown on Sun July 14, and WVBR has been giving away 9 pairs of tickets! Tune in to Your Home of Winning, WVBR-FM Ithaca at 93.5 or wvbr.com, for your chance to participate in our exciting giveaways!
Host Next Week (July 13): Kim Vaughan, with a spotlight on 1959
