*Bird Dog - Everly Brothers - #2. A caller asked to hear the Everly Brothers, it was easy to accommodate him in 1958.
Little Star - The Elegants - #3 - Band members Vito Picone and Arthur Venosa co-wrote the lyrics, the music was based on "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Song was a one-hit wonder and did make #1 for 1 week.
Splish Splash - Bobby Darin - #58 - song was on its way down from a peak of #3. Co-written by Bobby Darin after DJ Murray the K bet him that he couldn't write a song that began with the words "Splish splash I was taking a bath."
Ballad of Thunder Road - Robert Mitchum - #88 - Mitchum co-wrote this song that was the title track for the movie that he also starred in.
Early in the Morning - Buddy Holly - #52 - one of two versions of the song in the Hot 100 for the week of September 24, the other was by Bobby Darin & the Rinky-Dinks. Darin co-wrote the song.
Rebel Rouser - Duane Eddy - #41 - Known for his 'twangy' guitar sound, Eddy was born in nearby Corning, NY.

It's All in the Game - Tommy Edwards - #4 - music to this song was written in 1911 by Charles Dawes, who called it "Melody in A Major". Dawes would go on to become Vice President and win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925. Lyrics were added in 1951 when Tommy Edwards recorded it for the first time. His re-recording in 1958 would spend 4 weeks at #1.

Dream On - Righteous Brothers - #32 - 1974 - their last Top 40 hit, excluding re-issues.

Time - Paul Williams - from his 1969 LP "Someday Man".
Where Did All the Love Go? - Ian & Sylvia - 1967 - track from the "Lovin' Sound" LP.

Ferry Cross the Mersey - Gerry & the Pacemakers - #6 - 1965 - Marsden wrote this tune to his hometown river in Liverpool.
