Sept 7, 2013 - JS (and some KV)

Rockin' Remnants

Rockin' Remnants is broadcast from WVBR-FM Ithaca. Check out our
web page, like us on Facebook, and tune in to 93.5 or stream the show every Saturday night from 6-9pm! (Or download the WVBR+ app now available for iOS and Android!)

Date: September 7, 2013
Host: John Simon (with Kim Vaughan)
From the Rockin' Remnants page on Facebook:
"6-9 tonight - 3 hours of musical time-travel, starting with a re-cap of last week's Happy Together Tour show at the NY State Fair. The Rock 'n' Roll Birthday Calendar includes a founding Beach Boy, a Brother Gibb, a guy from Houston Texas who can dance just as good as he walks, and a guy who played on recordings by Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and The Beatles. We'll also be giving away a pair of State Theatre tickets and other cool stuff. It's cheap date night. We're buying! Who's in???"
As mentioned above, The Happy Together Tour (featuring Gary Lewis, Mark Lindsay, Gary Puckett, Chuck Negron and original Turtles Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, all backed by a crack "house band") played the State Fair in Syracuse. JS & KV (representing WVBR) were in attendance and opened this edition of Rockin' Remnants with a musical summary. KV also presented a short segment highlighting National Suicide Prevention Week.  (The toll-free phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-TALK, and it is staffed 24/7 by trained counselors.)
