Rock and Roll Trivia


Clue 1:  This singer/songwriter and recording industry pioneer was raised in Chicago and scored 43 charting Pop records over a 10-year span.


Clue 2:  Inducted into the R ‘n’ R Hall of Fame in 1986, his compositions have been covered by artists including The Animals, Cat Stevens and Otis Redding.


Clue 3:  He was something of a teen idol on the Gospel Music circuit in the 1950s, and thousands turned out to bid him farewell after his suspicious shooting death at the age of 33 by a Los Angeles motel clerk.
