6-7pm

The Mighty Quinn - Manfred Mann - BB Top 100 #10, 1968 - Klaus Voorman, flute.

Heard It In A Love Song - MTB - BB Hot 100 #14, 1977 - Jerry Eubanks, flute - I saw MTB live in Barton Hall in 1978.  Their sound engineer was so clueless as to what to do with the sounds bouncing around this terrible concert venue he just pushed the volume up to 11 and let it ride!  I left about halfway through because the music was so distorted; too bad because I was a big fan...

Windy - The Association - BB Hot 100 #1, 1967 - Terry Kirkman, flute-like recorder!

California Dreamin' - The Mamas And The Papas - BB Hot 100 #4,1966 - Bud Shank, flute.

45 Corner

Tonight's offering in The Corner is Locomotive Breath, Censored 45 version, by Jethro Tull with the leader of the "Flute Revolution", Ian Anderson.  The offensive word is "balls", as in "got him by the", and in a neat edit it's replaced by "fun"!  I couldn't find this version anywhere on the WWW, but if you click here,  another censored version with a beep!

Legend Of A Mind - Moody Blues - Off the LP In Search Of The Lost Chord,1968 - Ray Thomas, songwriter, vocalist, flute.
