Time for a little Rockin' Remnants Trivia!  We started off tonight's show with "Not Fade Away" by The Rolling Stones.  What is the significance of that single?  We'll have the answer at the end of the Blog!

One After 909
- The Beatles (1970, #3; off the LP Let It Be.  A listener suggestion!)

Young Americans - David Bowie (19775, #28; I was inspired to play this by a Luther Vandross documentary.  Luther sang background vocals on this.)

8p - 9p

Time for our feature "Famous Guitar Slides of the Seventies!"  Some are short, some are long, but I'll let you know who played that "slide."

Running On Empty - Jackson Browne (1978, #11; the guitar slides in the ending instrumental are played by steel guitar whiz David Lindley.)

Hotel California - Eagles (1977, #1; Joe Walsh gives us the slides on this.)

Easy - Commodores (1977, #4; Lionel Richie was the vocalist, but it was guitarist Thomas McClary who gave us those great runs!  Who hasn't played air guitar on these slides?)

Ballroom Blitz - Sweet (1975, #5; the late Brian Connolly was the lead singer and lead guitarist.)

Whole Lotta Love (1970, #4; it was "Bob" Plant's birthday on the 20th, but it was Jimmy Page who engineered the multiple slides on this!  If you ever want a treat for your ears, put on your cans and listen to this...)

The Guitar ManBread (1972, #11; the late, the great Larry Knechtel provided the slides.)

The Joker - Steve Miller Band (1974, #1; "I really love your peaches, want to shake your tree"  Wah Waahh)

Let There Be Music
- Orleans (1975, #55; John Hall gave us the multiple slides on this.)

To close out our show this week, another theme!
"Unlikely Horn Bands" followed up by one of the originals who just played at The New York State Fair this week, although David Clayton-Thomas no longer sings with his former band.  Too bad...

Hang On Sloopy - The McCoys (1965, #1; this is the extended "Red Dress" version, with the horns more prominent.  The video for this features model Liz Brewer, who later married Rick Derringer!

Rosanna - Toto (1982, #2; this group of studio whizzes were more guitar/keyboard oriented, but the horns on this give it a nice kick.)

Take It Away - Paul McCartney (1982, #10; remember "Got To Get You Into My Life"?)

Go Down Gamblin' - Blood, Sweat & Tears (1971, #32).

Trivia Question answer:  "Not Fade Away" was the Rolling Stones U.S. debut single on the Hot 100.  Congratulations to Randy from Ithaca who answered the question and won Dinner and a Movie from Papa John's and Cinemapolis!

CLOSING THEME:  Sleepwalk – Santo & Johnny (1959, #1 for two weeks)
