45 Corner
Knock On Wood - Amii Stewart
#1 on the Hot 100 in April 1979, this was
also #1 on the dance floors back 37 years
ago. The most often heard versions were
the longer LP or 12" remix. This 45
version is about half that time, and while a
short version is available on CD, it is not
the original 45 version. This was Amii's
only Top 40 hit.
Sultans Of Swing - Dire Straits - BB Hot
100 #10
An astute listener remembered Dire Straits
debut single on the radio back in '79; this
peaked at Hot 100 #4.

from the LP Dragonfly featuring Kantner on
lead vocals.
"Handy Man" - James Taylor, 1977
"Stagger Lee" - Lloyd Price, 1959

A live version of this Marvelows cover peaked
at Hot 100 #24 in 1983.

"Rings" - Cymarron, 1971
"Have I The Right" - The Honeycombs, 1965
The only U.S. Top 40 hit for this British combo
not to be confused with the soul trio The

An interesting song from an interesting
Boston-based band. Click here to learn more.

This Bert Kaempfert instrumental (with lyrics

it was out of his vocal range, so he offered it
to a young singer recently signed to the label,
Wayne Newton. Darin produced the record,
and the rest is history...

For The Common Man" and this:
"Hoedown" - From the LP Trilogy, 1972
Host Next Week (3/19/16): John Simon
