This song started life as an Irish folk tune, was then adapted by Huddy Ledbetter, then by Pete Seeger and the Weavers and then recorded by Jimmie Rodgers.
Got a Feelin’ Mamas and Papas 1966
From their first album. P.F. Sloan (who was born on September 18) played on the track as well. Interesting that John and Denny wrote the song and gave it to Cass and Michelle to sing. Apparently, there was trouble in paradise from the very beginning. The video below is a clip from "Monterey Pop" and contains footage of the group and the audience.

This Goffin/King/Spector composition was a follow up to “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin.”

From Souther’s second solo album “Black Rose” which had just about every brilliant West Coast player or singer on it who was working at that time. Souther was a prolific L.A. songwriter in the 1970's, and he died on September 17, 2024 at his New Mexico home at the age of 78.
